Checking in late, and I'm sure it's already been said a gajillion times, but when you buy the STi, you're not just paying for go-fast parts, you're paying for a lot more reliability as well. If I were planning on doing anything more than the basic breathing mods I wouldn't have gotten this car.

Why bother? At that point you might as well get a 2nd gen Forrester shell and do the STi swap. It's a shitload more bang for the buck once it's all done. I have seen a few and driven them directly compared to the STi and it is impressive to say the least.

Ooops meant first gen Forester not 2nd.

i dont think hed want to drive a forester...im tryinmg to get him to buy a 2.5rs wagon to be exact

He is stupid so whats it matter. If I were going through all that work I would pick the Forester shell over the 2.5 all day especially considering weight to power advantage and the fact that it still isn't all that common. Finding a low buck first gen that hasn't been beat to hell is a lot easier than a 2.5 and insurance will be dirt cheap...but underneath the skin it is all STi.

i drove the RS today. i really wish it was an STi drivetrain but for what it is, its still fun.
