that might be a problem. i occasionally have to haul my field gear around. that trunk doesnt look like my main pack would fit in there too nicely. whatever, the front seat's always open.

as great of a "sports car" the s2000 is, it has become the next "integra/civic" for kids.
"lemme buy a $30k car but for $10k used and no one will know!"
if you're set on getting a s2000, why get an AP1?? for the whack ass 9k redline that is totally useless unless you track the car?
with an AP1, u get a 95 civic front end but with projector lights. u get "ferrari-inspired" non-led taillights and you get 16" wheels with tires the width of integras lol.

s2k's are fun as hell to drive, but because of the way it's designed, unless you drive obnoxiously, the car becomes totally pointless. look at the majority of the s2k owners on the road these days. especially with the price drop with used s2k's, u see a bunch of lil asian fegs tryin to look all hollywood n shit and thinking theyre baller and flashy in their droptop. LOL.

AP1 = the new generation RWD civic convertible

i love the s2k as a car. but i wouldnt get one anymore because of what it has become thanks to all the kids. they killed the whole "import racing" back in the early 2000's and now that that's dead, theyre killing off good cars one by one.

yeah. its a pain for times i have to carry my guitar around b/c it wont fit in the trunk. ive also come to learn that suitcases larger than carry-on sizes wont fit, either. i once had to take my bag back in the house and repack everything before leaving for a trip :squint:

of course if you have a passenger you can just put the top down and have them carry it on their lap. ive done that before, too

Mine is daily driven. As to being the next civic, i can't say I agree. Sure, more kids have them, but in my car club, there are more enthusiasts than ricers any day of the week. It's just a great community.

I had an AP2, put 60k miles in 3 years. :hs: No problems at all. Just make sure you change the fluids and filters appropriately. Only thing is I went through tires very, very quickly. During the 3 years I went through 3 sets.

*Edit* I went through rear tires like crazy. Every year I had to replace them. Every other year I replaced all 4 tires.

Remember insurance is higher than an RSX though also.

Primarily though...why an S2K? Just because you have always wanted one? I have always wanted one also, but there is no practicality in it for me.

I agree on the tires. Keep in mind, stock tires are roughly $300 each (can be priced better or worse) and last about a year of average driving . Also, without a garage, seatlocks and an alarm are a must.

I know I'm going to catch hell for this, but in my mind, there is nothing inherently better about the s2k than a miata. Yes, more power, yes, looks cooler, but if you really care about the driving experience and not the image, a $2,000 miata with maybe $5,000 in upgrades will spank the s2k on the track for half the total price. You can say the s2k has better fit and finish, more technology, etc, but if you're interested in it purely from an enthusiast's perspective, that shouldn't matter. They have roughly the same handling potential (miata might have the edge in that department due to weight) and both have pretty much infinite power potential.

i've gotten quotes from different insurance companies and it doesnt seem too bad. definitely not as bad as i was expecting given my driving record. :hsugh:

it's not gonna be too practical for me either, but sometimes you just gotta say fuck it and make it work.
