Default Anyone into lifting weights..?

I got a weight set from my bro and his old roommates when they moved out of their apartment...I only paid $100 but its one of the nice Nexus sets with all the weights and what not included..The bar alone is 55lbs..I need to get out and do some kind running or some sport that requires alot of movement also to get me back into shape..As far as bench goes..I just started like a month ago and now I can do like 10reps of 155lbs..Is that any good..Should I up the weight now? My friend told me your MAX is basically what you can lift the most..even if its just one time..

I tend to look at max as lifting it 3 times. h:
Anyhow, you gotta judge for yourself on when to up the weight. I know for me, I get strong and big very fast when I lift, so I can move up the weights pretty fast, but it's good to pace yourself.

155lbs ain't bad, depends on how much you weigh.
