He is still called for a full recovery thankfully.

I understand the hostile reaction, and honestly I would most likely have done the same, but it sucks when its someone you see on a daily basis.
I'd be paranoid as shit too if some random person starts knocking and banging on the door and then breaking into the house. I don't own a gun, but sure as hell would have whack the shit out of him with something.

^I might whack the person with the butt of my rifle actually

because I don't have any bullets

That really sucks (dunno if person died or not, didn't see 1st page) but you can't blame the shooter. Even if I had bullets I'd use that as an absolute last resort, I'd rather risk getting messed up fighting with someone than killing them, even if they were clearly in the wrong and guilty, but still...

You will think differently when you have a family to protect.

Erik, I hope your friend makes a full recovery. Send him my best wishes.

Very presumptuous with the "when" there, but I'll take it as a compliment

Hell could freeze over ya know :hsugh:

And I'll give you benefit of the doubt as you'd know more than I, but I'd still think it would be last resort for me, I wouldn't want to end up in prison for shooting an intruder. Very unlikely/rare I'll grant you, but not impossible.

Now if they were carrying a gun, I'd def. go for the gun... if it had bullets.

Well good luck to him.

I'm interested in hearing what his thoughts are on what happened.

Precisely.

Stops occur either psychologically or physiologically.

That means they might stop when they see the gun, they might stop after the first shot or they might stop after they bleed out. You shoot until the threat is stopped, one way or the other.

Damn, that really sucks.

I hope he gets better.

But I would have shot him too.

first, i have to agree that this kid is lucky the shooter wasnt better with his weapon... that said, its too bad this happened...

you never know til you're in the situation but this is what i imagine i would do:
give the intruder about .1 seconds to gtfo (assuming he was still in/near my door, if he is actually in my house, all bets are off)
shoot til he hits the floor
if he still happens to be alive with a load of 00 buck shot in his chest, i would probably stand over him, muzzle to the head until the police got there...

one thing i can be certain about, the homeowner in this situation checked to see wtf was going on BEFORE getting his gun.... id get the gun first and then check and see who is coming into my house. what happens if the intruder is a threat, you might not have time to arm yourself.
