I think this stems from not caring about politics in general. Im not really interested in it so why waste my uneducated ass vote if Im not sure/caring? Thus, I let it be and cope with it.
My favorite is the people that don't vote, and then complain about who gets in office or what measures get passed.

Yep, I've voted every year since I turned 18. And I mean every year... I vote for city council, sheriff, CU regent, mayor, local propositions, state propositions, congressman (voted for the same guy every time), senate (my congressman is running for senate this year ) Although I know my presidential vote doesn't really count (in part because of the state I call home), I vote anyway. My vote definitely counts for a lot of the local stuff... so I feel more obligated to read up and vote at the local level.

It has nothing to do with upper or lower echelon, rich or poor people. You citizens all have an equal right (dare I say duty) to vote.

It's pretty selfish that you think just because you live a great life, you shouldn't care about everyone else. You could be the difference whether a poor old lady gets proper health care or not. You may not change your life, but you could help others.

Vote for a president, pass. Vote for local measures and props...damn right.

Not voting for a president because there is not one person that shares the same views as I do on issues that are important to me.

:werd: Same here. I like to spend a couple hours reviewing both sides of every proposition, and doing some research on every local and state person I vote for. It's uncovered some things, and I've been able to vote with a clean conscious.

I respect craigorz's opinion. If he honestly doesn't care and doesn't plan to bitch about it, it's entirely his prerogative. If everyone were compelled to vote we'd have a bunch of uninformed Puff Daddies voting, which would be WAY worse than low voter turnout, IMO.

If you consider this a really selfish act then what do you call the upper 20% of the population that control 80% of the wealth in America? Dont give me shit because its "my right." I know what my right is and I choose not to.

If you care so much about wanting people to vote then use your finances and time and go campaign it and tell me how you feel about it when you're done.

I vote because I can. If it wasn't for a balance of opinion in this country, I might still be chased by the klan, 3/5 of a man, and not even allowed on the bus. Whenever I speak to anyone in the voting line who's Black, we always start talking about the irony of us casting a vote.

My vote may be as potent as a sugar pill, but it's just something I do.

The upper 20% can kiss my salty brown ass. As much as they control the money in America now, that could all change with the upcoming election.

I do see your point. You've got a good job, school, a womens, a roof over your head. Life is pretty good.

But I am not giving you shit, bro. I just think you should at least learn about what's going on in the country, because you as individuals have the power to choose the leader of this nation.

I care because I am an immigrant who came here in search of a better life, and it's people like you that have it, who take it for granted.

And don't get your panties in a bunch because I am asking questions. I came here to learn, not start shit.
