If you consider this a really selfish act then what do you call the upper 20% of the population that control 80% of the wealth in America? Dont give me shit because its "my right." I know what my right is and I choose not to.
If you care so much about wanting people to vote then use your finances and time and go campaign it and tell me how you feel about it when you're done.
I read that the top 5% controls 99% of the wealth in the US. :dunno:

no b/c both presidents suck. i would have voted for ross perot as a financial president a long time ago but i knew he wasn't gonna win so i didnt vote.
unless a president comes with a revolutionary cause then i will not vote
Not exactly. The officials in the electoral college can vote however they want.
They can, but they wouldn't dare. Everyone thinks the electoral college dicked us over in '00, but they were just doing what they're supposed to--voting with the majority in their state. They don't just override the popular vote, they represent their state's popular vote.

Why is it then, that we even need an electoral college? Why can't elections be based off the majority vote. Do we really need a middle man?

I don't think we really need it, but some do. It's a vestige of older times when state rights were high on the priority list. Having each state independently choose a majority leader and sending their delegates to the electoral college was a way of ensuring that the states had some control over the process... a lot of people were distrustful of the fed at that time.
