You guys can vote all you want, but it's the electoral college's vote that counts.

no b/c both presidents suck. i would have voted for ross perot as a financial president a long time ago but i knew he wasn't gonna win so i didnt vote.

unless a president comes with a revolutionary cause then i will not vote

Not exactly. The officials in the electoral college can vote however they want.

I don't vote because I don't know who to vote for. They'll say one thing and go into office and do the opposite. Politicians

They can, but they wouldn't dare. Everyone thinks the electoral college dicked us over in '00, but they were just doing what they're supposed to--voting with the majority in their state. They don't just override the popular vote, they represent their state's popular vote.

Why is it then, that we even need an electoral college? Why can't elections be based off the majority vote. Do we really need a middle man?

I don't think we really need it, but some do. It's a vestige of older times when state rights were high on the priority list. Having each state independently choose a majority leader and sending their delegates to the electoral college was a way of ensuring that the states had some control over the process... a lot of people were distrustful of the fed at that time.
