Insufficient Funds
Just seeing if you guys have heard of this b/c I hadn't and think its messed up....
I recently deposited a $25 check that I rec'd as a gift. A few weeks later, I got a letter in the mail from my bank saying that I was being charged $25 as well as a $15 "stop payment" fee because there were insufficient funds in the gift-giver's bank account.
I can understand them "charging" me $25 since it was originally deposited, but why do I have to pay a $15 fee because the OTHER person had insufficient funds?
I feel bad that someone didn't have $25 and they tried to give me $$ anyway.

I just don't understand....and I've had the bank since I was 16....kinda lame IMO.
I just ordered new checks, I don't really wanna switch banks, I've never had any other problems
h:
I have, but why would I get charged for someone else's financial issues?

Forgot to mention that they sent me a "copy" of the check (doens't look like the check, just has the info.) and said that I could use it just like the original check. There's no way I'm going to try to cash it, I feel bad for the dude!
