Insurance companies would rather pay to replace stolen items than pay millions of dollars in health care costs to gunshot victims.

i think it's switzerland that requires every male over the age of 18 to own a handgun. look up switzerland's violent crime rate. it's almost non-existant. reason being... if everyone is packing, and you know that everyone is packing, you don't stick a gun in somebody's face and take their wallet because as soon as you turn to run there's a bullet hole in you. it's all about checks and balances. right now, with gun control laws the way they are, the checks are in the hands of criminals and there are no balances to keep them in check.

i'm sure the numbers would be way less than you estimate if guns were made easily available to the general public.

I think Switzerland requires all males between the ages of 18 and 25 to serve in their military. And after they are done they are in the reserves and are allowed to keep their weapons at home. I could be wrong about part of that though. I can say that having spent time in Switzerland I never noticed anyone packing a gun...and I was there in the middle of August when it was hotter than hell. Switzerland was a very safe country though...same with Germany and Austria. Israel has smilar laws as well...the only crime amongst Israelis is terrorist attacks...but we have another thread on that.

my point is that they may not all be packing all the time, but weapons are easily acessible. i believe that is directly proportional to the low crime rate.
