OOOOOOooohhhh shiiiit..... If that were my kid, he would have been choke slammed. I wouldn't give a fawk if it were on national TV or not.

On that note, my mom used to whoop my ass with a wooden spoon when I wouldn't listen. By the time I was about 10, she couldn't catch me anymore. She would just get tired chasing me around the house, so it pretty much stopped around that point.

Wrong answer.

Kids are a mirror image of their parents/guardians. If you hit them they will hit you, if you yell at them they will yell at you, if you throw things...They learn how to react from your reactions. The best parenting advice is redirection not reaction. Redirect the attention to something more positive. My son would turn off the tv or hit things with his toys and we just redirect his attention to something else like playing his little piano, reading a book, or tickle time. My son is extremely well behaved for an 18 month old. That mother does not know how to parent a child, she knows how to boss a child around. You shouldn't treat your children as anything less than your equal, they're just a smaller version of you. If you want to change the world you have to start with your children.

bullllllllfuckinshit!

if i ever even made like i was gonna swing on my old man, i wouldnt be here to make this post today.

same goes with raising my voice, throwing something at him, whatever.

fact is, there are a couple of things ive learned.... my old man will always be able to kick my ass... and it seems that he never lost any battle with me or any of my siblings.

People have been using physical discipline since prehistory. Now, all the sudden its child abuse to lay a finger on your kid, and we've got more brats, fuckups and school shooters than ever. Fuck that... there's a reason people have been spanking their kids for ages. In the long run, its an act of kindness and guidance more than an act of discipline.

You sound like a parenting book I wouldn't buy. If you keep this up, you might have a Nanny 911 on your case when your son doesn't give a shit about where you're redirecting him to. Remember, what you see as a positive redirection is only relative to YOU. You'll more than likely run out of things to distract him, and he'll start ignoring you.
