everyone put on their parenting hats ...
Wrong answer.
Kids are a mirror image of their parents/guardians. If you hit them they will hit you, if you yell at them they will yell at you, if you throw things...They learn how to react from your reactions. The best parenting advice is redirection not reaction. Redirect the attention to something more positive. My son would turn off the tv or hit things with his toys and we just redirect his attention to something else like playing his little piano, reading a book, or tickle time. My son is extremely well behaved for an 18 month old. That mother does not know how to parent a child, she knows how to boss a child around. You shouldn't treat your children as anything less than your equal, they're just a smaller version of you. If you want to change the world you have to start with your children.

That advice cant work with all situations.

If it was my kid he'd have been slapped so fast he wouldn't have known what hit him...and he wouldn't have made contact either.

I never got a beating from my parents, neither did my brothers or sister, my dad would just look at us and cuss us out and we'd be in tears.
my cousins on the other hand had an ass whupping. they got beat so bad they couldn't sit for days. :chuckles:

h:My father loves to tell the story when I was 5 and I cut my own hair. It was more about me breaking the scissors rule and making it worse by having them so close to my face. 1977, it was more like an afro.o: While spanking me I screamed, "I'm SORRY!!!!!" He yelled, "I KNOW!!!!" I replied, "Then why are you still hitting me?!?!?"
