most likely the pc is trying to boot into a resolution that is not supported by the tv. find someone with an actual monitor (real computer monitor) and test that first.
that's weird though... at 720p you figure it would be able to handle the resolution of the windows setup screen...

If safe mode is not working something is def. effed up. I would pop the install CD and see if it tries to finish installing. maybe read the directions?

whatever resolution the boot screen runs at... isnt supported by your TV.

I know my uncle's samsung 720p hdtv only supports 1024x768 through the vga input.

go find someone with a monitor.

it's a VGA out from the computer, to a VGA in to the monitor, right?

No HDMI / DVI conversion cables, etc ... correct?

From the sounds of it, it's an HDCP issue ... but I don't think that exists with VGA inputs.

it doesnt.

plus, there is no copy protection while windows is booting.

When it first turns on the resolution is 800x600 @60Hz but when it hits the windows load screen right before it blanks out the resolution kicks up to like 1028x480 (cant remember if that's the exact number) @70Hz then i lose picture... I'll try a different monitor just in case that is the problem but my suspicion lies with the OS. I'll have the geek squad guys at best buy take a look at it. As for the model of tv its a Proscan 19la25q I've used this tv on different occasions running at different resolutions and it has never had a problem displaying any high resolution or even the lowest resolution pictures

don't do that. it's a waste of money.

It's really the resolution. Depending on the age of the monitor, 720p could mean a few things.

1280 by 768 (native resolution for a monitor, 720p stretches to fill)
? by 720 (for sets made in 2004 ish)

I'm almost positive now that your video card doesn't have the proper resolution written to it's driver. Get your PC on a normal monitor, then run this ...
http://www.download.com/PowerStrip/3...html?tag=lst-1

This utility allows the user to add custom resolutions to the installed driver. Get 1280 by 768 on there and try again.
