Yep from what I heard all iPhones are registered to their owner and have to run on AT&T to unlock the mp3 player as well.

I seem to remember hearing this a whie back but I am sure there is a hack now to get past the mp3 portion of it.

yep you can't just swap another att sim into an iphone, it wont work. my coworker has is and he has been using my att sim to test jailbreak.

can't you unlock the phone and use it on t-mobile? I thought there were a few companies that offered software unlocks?
