Best Remedy for Razor burn?
I don't use a razor...haven't had razor burn since 3 days before I checked out of the Marine Corps...

i rinse my face (head) for about 30 seconds w/ the water as hot as i can stand it. this opens up your pores.
i use edge shaving gel w/ the red top...the one that says extra protection from nics & cuts.
i use the schick extreme triple blade disposable. i have tried pretty mutch every refillable or disposable on the market & these work the best IMO. i get about 3-4 days out of one before it gets tossed..
i make 1 pass going w/ the grain. rinsing the blade out freguently....once again w/ the hottest water possible. then i make another pass going against the grian, but this time i wet one hand, & move it over my face (head) pulling the skin tight & following my hand w/ the blade.
pulling the skin tight when doing this is important for 2 reasons.....it keeps you from cutting yourself & it also causes what hair is still there to stand up. then when the blade comes over it makes for a much closer shave & keeps the ends of the hairs from curling down. when they curly down & grow, they grow back into the skin & this is what causes shaving "bumbs"
h: after i am all done, i rinse my face (head) once again w/ very hot water, towel it off & splash rubbing alcohol. yes, before you ask it stings like a fucking bitch
but what that sting is the alcohol trating the minor cuts caused from the shaving, so it treats them & takes away almost all of the reddness & "burn" from the shave.the drawback is that it REALLY dries out your skin, which is why i take a nice hot shower after & then use a very good lotion to remoisturize my skin immediately after.
i only do the 2-pass shave when i am going out on the weekends or on a date. doing the 1-pass shave, i will notice stubble about 4-5 hrs later, but the 2-pass method is still pretty smooth 10-12 hrs later & i am constantly getting compliments from girls about how smooth my head is (who for some reason love rubbing on it...not that i'm complaining)
I don't really need a lesson in shaving...but more or less what helps stop the burning of razor burn.
Granted I will take advantage of all the tips from everybody...seeing as how I really don't shave that much, but will have to everyday starting in a couple of weeks.

Get one of those fogless mirrors to put up in the shower. I find my best, closest, comfortable shaves are done in the shower. Lather-up after soap and shampoo, when your skin and facial hair have softened up.
For aftershave try some witchhazel. It's got a clean scent to it and not overly powerful perfumy smelling like most aftershaves. Or if you like that burn/cool feeling use SkinBracer.

Tomorrow I'm gonna try putting cold water on my skin before I lather to see if that helps. I've heard rinsing the blade in cold is better than hot but doesn't really seem to make much, if any, difference to me.
Personally it's gel or nothing for me. I have sensitive skin, especially on my neck, and creams just don't cut it.
I currently use Gillette Gel, forget the name but it's the one with some kinda oil in it, and it works well but I think I'll look for the stuff with extra nick protection.

werd. I always shave in the shower. I go over it with an electric to shorten in and then take a shower. Shaving is the last thing I do. The hair gets softer and more supple so when you shave it doesn't take as much to cut it. I go with the grain then rinse my face then go against the grain. No aftershave. I have very sensitive skin to shaving. I shave every other day. If I shaved on consecutive days it would hurt a lot
