New Project
*shrug* Friends who work in shops owe me favors... Not worried about the money. Put it this way, that 500 included the labor.
I also am getting the steel cheap, I used to work as a welder at a machine shop which I still have strong ties to and can get, for example what I did two weeks ago, a 36" by 36" 18 gauge piece of steel for $2.
The only thing now that I did not for see problems with is the gauges... I do have some mismatched mechanical VDOs in my garage, hmmm, VW and Volvo parts in the Lude... might make me sick :barf: Eh, we'll see if I can make it look good (totally doubt it)
I also have tons of spare parts in there too... I guess if you add the price of the parts I already have, then it might be quite expensive. This isnt going to be a full build, just something to keep me occupied over the winter while the VW, Austin, and MG projects sit.
I hate being miles away from home.
Who knows, maybe this weekend when Im about to take out the engine or cut out the floor pan... I might not be able to bring myself to it... stock it is a fun car... We shall see. Saturday is drop day.

Well... I am beginning to take you a little more seriously now since you aren't responding to people's criticism like the average noob. If this project comes through, I will be pretty impressed along with a bunch of other folks around here. Just keep in mind, you're going to need a lot of help, a lot of time and A LOT of patience (and a lot more money imo).
What are you going to use for rear hubs and axles? Front suspension with the added weight? Rear suspension with the torsion of drive wheels? New subframe or reinforcements? Rear end mounting? There's not a whole lot of clearance for a rear end housing back there.

I'm also curious...does the engine actually fit in the engine bay? IIRC 5.0's are OHC V8's which aren't small.
