Thanks pete. There is no reason to respond and get into a flamewar.

About building a fox body... then it wont be unique. My other project is a VW fox (picture whoring below, 'natch) with a 2.0 swap and a possible supercharger on it (if I really really feel the need, which I probably wont). Will that be a supercar... no. Does everyone and their grandmother have one, no. There are a bunch 2 liter or turbo foxes out there (lots of buddies who have them) but they are still unique. I like unique things.

(mmm, being a picture whore)

In order: Full towncar 8.8 rear (because that is what I have), 500 lb springs, once again, full custom springs (probably 300), custom subframe welded to the strut towers/frame, rear end mounting will be all custom floor pan for the boot (trunk or hatch for you american folk), and Ill tub it if I have to (there I might have to be paying for wheels/tyres/Dana 34 rear, but Ill cross that bridge if I get to it, I have some friends with junk parts that they will give me to get it on the road)

Thanks for your comments/concerns

Don't use it those things are junk...in fact I could get you a couple dozen of them for free.

C-clips bring the suck when you pop one or have to replace gears, axles or a locker/LSD whatever. At the least go with a D44 which can be had for cheap, although I would strongly suggest the Ford 9 because of the low pinion design allowing for more clearance under your vehicle leaving a flatter driveline angle.

8.8 is built on the same design platform as the 9" is using the low pinion 3rd member so the difference is basically the ring gear size for the most part. The 8.8 is a good one to use and is just about as strong as the 9 is.
