almost anything related to muscular/manly men makes your feel warm and tingly inside? :eek5:

I keed I keed

btw, My friend is a Marine and he told me that they were trained for this. It's an auto reaction for them if they got cornered.

Luck of the draw I suppose...
I couldn't tell you what I would do in such a situation... I'd like to say I would give them what they want, but who knows, :hs: I could be in a shitty mood that day and would not even care if I died or not... you never know :dunno: things are always different when your looking from the outside of the window h:

First of all, you can't say how you would have acted in a situation like that because adrenaline and instincts change everything. Not to mention, you weren't there and couldn't possibly know the full details.

Second, when you shoot at someone with a shotgun or a pistol, you're not thinking "Gee maybe if I aim for his legs." No, you aim the business end at the target and you pull the trigger praying that you put them down.

Lastly, as a former Marine, I know what they teach. They taught us to aim for the neck and the chest and the face. Once you get a stab in, don't stop stabbing till your target is limp. The sooner you drop your target, the more time you have to engage other targets and remove the threat. None of this "Oh yeah, if you stab him in the leg he will be immobile."

Go let your heart bleed somewhere else please.

im no marine but id agree with this....im sure that when confronted with this danger his training took over. and i highly doubt the marine training involves giving up at first sight of danger. an average citizen may have just given in but someone with the appropriate training to defend themselves in highly hostile situations was more than able to take care of himself.

and the minute u pull a trigger and hit the person that attempted murder regardless where u hit them.

[quote=antarius]
The reality of the situation means that in California, if someone breaks down your front door -- you would be reasonable in believing that your life is in immediate danger. However, if you shot him, and it turned out he didn't have a weapon or a knife -- and you couldn't articulate how he could have easily beat you to death -- you could be tried for committing crime as there was no "actual threat."

Now if the person broke in stating "I'm going to kill you" and you shot him, and he didn't have a weapon -- you could show that you reasonably believed your life was in danger, and the attacker at least thought he had the ability to commit serious bodily injury, thus lethal force was justified.
[quote]

our county sheriff is a friend of my grandfathers, who collects rifles and shotguns and it is well known that he does so he worries about people wanting to rob him, so at one time he had the sheriff out to check his place and make recomendations. he told him that anytime someone breaks into his house all he had to do was make sure the glass was broken in on the window or the guy stepped in the house and he was free and clear to fire. i dont know about other states but from what he said here thats all that is required to be self defense. he even came out to say if u shoot just go knock the glass in on an accesble window or door so it looks good.

Absolutely. That's why you have to examine it before the situation arises. If it were me (and I know this is a pansy ass thing to say) I would probably just have given it to them, even with a pretty good background in martial arts. 4 on 1 with two guns...done the scenarios in class, but never in real life, and I don't think it's worth the $20 I have in my wallet.
