a knife agianst two people with a shotgun and knife. uym yeah i would have given them my money and cellphone. yeah he got lucky. but seriously i would have jsut gave them what they wanted. kung fu master or not im not stupid.
plus if they shot him below the waste, its not attempted manslaughter.

also he knew where to stab to kill them, thats what marines teach. he could have stabbed them not to kill them.

That is retarded. Just pointing a gun at someone is attmepted murder by definition in most states. And no you can't just stab someone to subdue and not kill them. That is hollywood bullshit.

As much as I'm glad the robbers got what was coming to them, I have to agree with Lueb, because of this:

He got lucky. If the gun had worked, the headline would probably have been very different.

No it isn't, it's called brandishing a firearm.

Buddy, do you even know what the hell you're talking about?

First of all, you can't say how you would have acted in a situation like that because adrenaline and instincts change everything. Not to mention, you weren't there and couldn't possibly know the full details.

Second, when you shoot at someone with a shotgun or a pistol, you're not thinking "Gee maybe if I aim for his legs." No, you aim the business end at the target and you pull the trigger praying that you put them down.

Lastly, as a former Marine, I know what they teach. They taught us to aim for the neck and the chest and the face. Once you get a stab in, don't stop stabbing till your target is limp. The sooner you drop your target, the more time you have to engage other targets and remove the threat. None of this "Oh yeah, if you stab him in the leg he will be immobile."

Go let your heart bleed somewhere else please.

Not necessarily. Statistically, they are more likely to just take the money and leave. He took a gamble by running and getting his knife out that he would be able to fight them off, and that's certainly his right to try. Also, he has at least some training in this area, but even so, there was the element of luck in his ability to win. Your average person on the street would probably not be so lucky.
