It is true that he is a teenager/young adult, but he was just wearing jeans and a sweatshirt, and is clean cut, so there is nothign to really draw the manager to watch him.
i'm amused at the irony of him questioning whether target's practices are legal.. :chuckles:

dude, simply tell him, he tried to steal, he got caught, he's paying the price. let it be a lesson. he'll appreciate it when someone decides not to jack his shit, because they learned a similar lesson years back.

He wants to get into the financial field and/or management/marketing.
it might if he decides to work for the govt or something..

if he really doesnt want the misdemeanor, tell him to get a lawyer..

or wait a couple years and get it expunged

haha. No it is not me. I wouldn't pull that. The age lines up because we are both the same age. He goes to high school with me, we have been friends since junior high years. It happened recently to him, and he has been talking a lot about it lately with me. But some of your responses confuse me. How do misdemeanors not affect employment? I mean, whenever i applied for a job it asked "have u ever been committed of a crime?", wouldn't an answer of yes put you lower on the totem pole?

I'm not saying that I condone stealing, but I do think that there is a slight difference between stealing a 20 dollar item from a multimillion dollar corporationg, and stealing a car that is a very large asset to most people. True, stealing is stealing, but I think that there are different degrees of it, yet none are correct.

Again that's only for felonies. He might not even be convicted of a misdemeanor, might just be a violation and get community service.

If you're both in HS a misdemeanor would be off the record by the time you're out of college easily.

Do they go off your record automatically? Or do you have to file paperwork and get them expunged? I have no idea about law enforcement and convictions, so this is all new to me too.
