woooooooooooooow.

I couldn't see that coming. I know Lugo from TB is rumored to be traded to the Red Sox ... but is he really that jaw dropping good?

You figure with Damon unsigned, Manny on the move, and the pitching needing work ... this would be the last thing they'd do .

I blame the GM who made all the bonehead moves for LA, aka trading Loduca and signing drew, and so on and so forth also Letting Beltre leave while signing Kent

yea i was shocked to see that. I knew they werent set on Renteria based on his performance last year but i hardly figured they would dump him like that.
Lugo is not really a great player by any means, yea he is serviceable but who knows.
Someone called up on Mike and the maddog today and said what are teh chances Boston would bring back Nomar and use the extra money from dumping renteria to bring back Damon quite an interesting thought

Nomar, Sosa, Thomas ... what do all 3 have in common? Limited playing time due to injuries over the past 2 seasons.

Nomar doesn't have the ability to play SS anymore, so he's actually marketing himself as an OF/ utility player. He is very "streaky" when it comes to hitting and I wouldn't sign him for more than a 3M, 1 year contract.

it allways falls back the gm in the end. but tracy didnt do the best with what he had, he could of done alot better, there was a lot of talent in that line up. the trades lets not talk about that simple the worest thing ever done.

With Boston trading Rent-an-error for Atlanta's top prospect Andy Marte and trading Mirabelli for Loretta and offering Graffanino arbitration, and offering Damon arbitration there is something more brewing. My guess is that the money saved on Reteria will go towards Damon as the Sox have only upped their offer to 4 for $40.

Also, according to This blog it appears that Manny has been having an affair and that is the reason his wife wants him out of Boston to get him away from her. So with the money saved on Manny something big must be coming in return.

As for Lugo he made 6 less than Rent-an-errors league leading 30 errors. I see a much more likely scenario of Cora/Pedroia playing short and the Sox getting a big bat 1B or outfielder.

Supposedly this Andy Marte is good and was the #1 Braves prospect.
