One of the rumors floating around the Boston board is Manny for Ichiro b/c with the Mets getting Delgado and making a huge push for Wagner they are not going to have any money for Manny. Plus Hargrove used to be his manager in Cleveland. If the Sox got Ichiro he could lead off if we do not resign Damon and Trot would move to right. If we resigned Damon then he could hit behind Ichiro in the #2 slot.

But I do not think that will happen and I bet Many winds up with the Angels. Of course, this is Manny and he does this every year so he may just stay having someone like Lowell hitting behind him.

 

I see Becket as replacing what Wells gave us at worst and if he lives up to his potential he could be another Pedro for us. Plus at less than $4 million you can't go wrong.

83 wins isn't exactly a shitty team. Only 8 teams had a better record than them out of 30 teams constitutes as a pretty good team actually.
