A day old fetus is NOT alive, that's the point. stopping the cycle (actually more of a one way process than a cycle) is just stopping the cycle... not stopping something that was already alive..

A day old fetus still has cells. These cells if not allowed to get into the next stage would never form a kid. So if you stop those cells from moving on to whatever the next stage is you've stopped life from forming.

Technically speaking day old fetal cells are alive... my old man is a doctor and thats what he said.

While a few of my biology and genetic professors think otherwise.

Again all matter of opinion. Abortion doctors will tell you otherwise..while other doctors will agree with your dad. They're all have medical degrees... just matter of opinion.

In the end the woman will choose, it is her body and it is her fetus. Albeit being a mitoted cell or a 5 month fetus. She will do whatever she needs to regardless.

You and I debating wont change any of that. It was good hearing each other's opinions. If anything.

Exactly.

Sadly its a very relative topic, it depends on which end of the table you are from. Thats one of the reasons I hate the medical field, even though it can be fascinating there are no clear cut answers to any questions. Engineering is different, we either have a right answer or a wrong answer and nothing in between.

Its a good topic... which brings to my mind another question. Shouldn't the prospective father have a right too? I know its the woman's body the fetus is feeding off for 9 months but shouldn't there be a mutual decision or does the woman get to make the decision.

Reminds me of a recent case where a man didn't want his gf aborting the baby because he was willing to adopt the kid and take care of it.

Well that being said.... the medical field has so many mysteries that lie within our bodies. Engineering I agree has clearcut ways of doing things. Both both fields lend themselves to creative and intuitive minds.

I agree but sometimes I wonder if I want to know what all is in me. But then again I think of how a doctor would look at my desire to know about everything inside a pc.

Yes its a fascinating field and sometimes I get baffled at all the things they discover. I remember my dad had to operate on this one dude whose face was so deformed he looked like a dog, the guy came out from underneath the knife looking like a human. Its like you literally change the way a person looks simply by knowing what each part of the body does and how it functions.
