Well this post if gonna make me look like some drifting fanboy, but for the record, I'm not. I think it's dumb, and on that note....

Ass-dragging != drifting

If you call what that civic is doing drifting then tray-sliding is the mother of everything drift

IMO even oversteer isn't necessarily considered drifting. It's just a limit of the drivetrain, FWD can't drift. Who cares, drifting is dumb anyways. I have this one friend constantly telling me about "drifting" in his FWD Corsica. Did it oversteer, sure, was it drifting, no.

here's some food for thought..

this is not flaming to any of you.. all your comments just got me pondering about a lot of things.. so here's what's been going through my mind.. none of you guys (that i know of anyway), including me, are drifters.. so who are you to say what is or is not drifting? It's puzzling to me.. you say that civic in the vid isn't drifting because he's pulling the e-brake.. i'm not sure if any of you knows this, but professional drifters use e-brake as an essential drifting technique.. some even modify the e-brake to make it easier to pull..

now, the fwd discussion.. once again, all the people i hear that say fwd's can't drift are those that are not drifters and probably couldn't even drift if their life depended on it.. that vid of the civic was shot during competition and the commentators and others are calling it drifting.. they're describing the technique to drift the fwd car properly and effectively... so who's right? the drift community or the guy that uses his car only to drive to work/school and back?

in my point of view, it's like some car fanatic that enters his car in all shows with his $50k sound system, etc. calls himself a car guru and says F1 isn't real racing because they use sequential shifters instead of a stick and clutch.

so what is everyone else's point of view and why?

Because FF cars for the most part are hardcore understeerers, which is like the anti-drift, and also because the rear wheels do NOTHING besides support the car, after a RWD car's rears are locked up with the e-brake then atleast the person can power out of the drift with the same wheels.

The fact that a RWD car is being pushed and not pulled is also pretty critical, and almost every single technique that is majorly used for drifting involves the rear wheels powering out of it. Everything can drift, from RC to AWD to FF, EVERYTHING can drift, but a true inertial drift is just more easily attained with the oversteering nature of a RWD car.

(which typically arent boats like the Accord)

this is completly untrue, there are at least 9 main forms of drifting, just like any other type of skill, it has forms. that would be like saying Kempo and Tia Kwan doe (sp) aren't matial arts cause one uses linear strikes with feet and the other uses circular motions with hands.
to tell the truth, that Takumi bullshit is annying, most cars lack the abilaties to "power" out of or into a drift... Power drifting is one of the harder forms.
brake drifting is one of the most common forms taught at a drift school, its a introductory stage for RWD cars, which move on to using RW advantage, but FWD cars perfect the technice, mainly because all it requiers is good control and proper braking, so please realize that dirfting has more than one form

There's a civic on [some popular auction site] that CAN most CERTAINLY drift. I can't give you a link, but there's a certain number that might be of consequence, and that is...

4525856165

Posting an auction link is against the rules. I'm not selling anything. Nobody here will pay $22,500 for a civic, that's insane... so this info isn't hurting anybody. I've never seen a boosted RWD 6-cyl civic and thought someone here might like it.

that set of numbers leads to something that has had way too much money put in it. not to mention to much time. def. needs a different paint job
