CF in crash..
Carbon fiber is also preferable as a material for drive shafts in rear- or all-wheel drive cars because if it breaks away from the transmission or diff it will prevent the car from doing a pole vault on the drive shaft.
given enought impact force CF will shatter. as will alloy wheels.
but generally it will flex (with damage)

With regards to the pictures in this thread - you can see on the Accord hood where it started to tear. If the impact had been a bit harder, the hood would have separated into two pieces with a bunch of little spears of carbon fiber at the point of separation.
The Civic looks like the impact was either not hard or sudden enough to cause shattering, or the hood might not be carbon fiber. I think it is based on the "torn" look on the left side, where the hood has folded.

Note that Andy's hood (Civic) is a FI and it is real CF.

I've been to the hospital for stitches from the edges before.
damn what kind of accident was it?
and yeah i guess it would depend on how the CF is used and what types of panels are constructed using CF.

It wasn't an accident (at least not a car accident). In my undergrad career I was part of teams that designed and built cars, and we did our own layups of CF, Kevlar and fiberglass. So one of the things we tested was crash worthiness with some rudimentary test pieces and a hammer. So as I was cleaning up after the test I cut myself pretty deep and went to the hospital.
Edit: Found the photo I was looking for. This is a guy on my team who destroyed an older CF body with a sledge hammer. You can't see it in the photo, but the edges are razor sharp and jagged.
