CF in crash..
I imagine it has a lot to do with the type of resin and how it was cured. Stiffer tends to be more brittle. The fibers within it will tend to hold it together. As I understand it, similar to fiberglass, just using the carbon fiber instead of glass.
Well yeah, the stiffness does relate to the weave and resin system, but CF fibers, while stronger than fiberglass, are also more brittle, so inherently the cloth and the final composite are more brittle.
