No pics, but carbon fiber tend to shatter under heavy impact, and the edges become very jagged, like little daggers.

This was a fiberimages hood from Bodykits NW after going into the back of a ford Expedition (behind them on an on ramp, thought they went, looked over my shoulder, waited for car to go by, started to speed up, boom, they hadn't gone).

The CF and fiberglass undertray seperated in a few places but the latch that was molded into the fiberglass never seperated. I actually had to remove the grill and unbolt the 3 bolts on the stock latch to get the hood up (the release cable was jarred loose).

Kestrel and redgoober are correct. Carbon fiber doesn't shatter the way you think of a glass vase shattering, but the fibers do actually separate and become pointy little implements of pain.

With regards to the pictures in this thread - you can see on the Accord hood where it started to tear. If the impact had been a bit harder, the hood would have separated into two pieces with a bunch of little spears of carbon fiber at the point of separation.

The Civic looks like the impact was either not hard or sudden enough to cause shattering, or the hood might not be carbon fiber. I think it is based on the "torn" look on the left side, where the hood has folded.
