Are you using this computer for gaming? If your planning on doing mostly content creation, CAD, or media encoding, then your rig is set up pretty nicely. If you plan on doing mostly gaming, then you can save a little bit of cash and get a slightly better-performing (in games) set up using AMD processors.

You can stick with Asus and get a similarly equipped motherboard for
$139
ASUS "A8V Deluxe"

The AMD Athlon 64 3200+ processor is pretty killer in games, but lags behind the 3.2c in encoding. But its a bit cheaper at
$194
AMD Athlon 64 3200+ (939)

This will save you about $95, which you could use for further upgrades. You could move up to an Athlon 64 3500+ and be at about the same price point.

Additionally, unless your a big audiophile and have a killer speaker set-up, you probably won't notice any difference between the Audigy and the on-board sound.

Otherwise, your part choices look pretty good.

Forget the DVD-rom and CDRW, just get a DVD burner.

lol...ive always wanted an AMD but have never gotten one. a person i kno has an OC'ed intel based computer that beats any AMD out there. I donno if he included extremely overclocked AMD's. BTW how do these 2 CPU's overclock?

I provide links to parts and a reasonably intelligent reason behind my comments, you tell me to shut up, and essentially, "LOL 1NTeL ROxZoRS!!!!!!" (Obviously I'm exaggerating, merely pointing out that your post is far less informative than mine.)

As far as OC'ing the processors, you'll definitely be able to get a higher mhz overclock from the 3.2c. The 3200+ runs at 2.0ghz, and I've heard it's easy to hit 2.4ghz w/ decent cooling, and heard of a couple running at 2.6ghz on air.

OC'ing still essentially leaves the processors in the same place (in my mind) with the Pentium being better at numbers-crunching, while the AMD still ends up better on the gaming front. Since the Athlon 64 processes code differently, it doesn't need quite as big of a mhz OC to stay competitive, as long as the percentage OC is roughly equivalent.

Just thought of something else:

If you're planning on overclocking the Pentium 3.2, try to get one of the most recent steppings. Apparently, the more recent Prescott-Core Pentiums run significantly cooler than the first batches and are significantly easier to overclock. I believe the 3.2E (Pentium 540: Prescott-based) OC better than the 3.2C's (Northwood based), since they were initially designed to ramp up the clock speed.

i picked out the Swiftech heatsink for that. probably going with a Vantec tornado 92mm fan i was told this is one (or best) air cooled heatsinks around. but i dunno. i did switch my setup to an AMD for cost reasons. ide be overclocking no matter wut.

I think he was joking because he's not that retarded.

Nice setup, btw.
