DIET DIET DIET DIET DIET! losing weight is ALL in what and how you eat. PERIOD. cardio isn't going to do a damn thing for you if you're eating like crap. cardio is a far cry from the foods you consume. if you're working on burning off fat, then you might want to look into a CKD diet. it's a high (good) fat, higher protein, no carb diet (less than 50g carbs daily). the GOOD fats won't stick to you, you'll burn them for energy. the protein is absolutely 100% necessary to build muscle. the carbs....you can live without them if you've got bodyfat to burn.

good luck!

I fail to see the point in this diet. It shouldn't be used as a permanent diet for obvious reasons, so once you lose weight you're just going to have to go back to a low fat, medium carb diet. It's been proven that over a 1 year period, a low carb diet has little to no advantage over a healthy well balanced diet. I can see if he had an insane amount of weight to lose (100+ lbs), but a healthy well rounded diet can be just as successful.

Lots of cardio. Good diet. Hydroxicut or TrimSpa.

CKD is a pretty extreme diet. it does give results though. i'm not giving all the details because i'd have to go look them up again. i havn't had to use this diet myself, luckily. lots of others have, however, and it does work if you make it work.

part of CKD involves a "carb up" every few days. it's a day where you just force feed carbs all day long to shock the body, then back onto no carbs for a few days. wash, rinse, repeat.

a diet like this, if researched properly before hand, can keep chipping away at the bodyfat very effectively until you're down to your target weight or bodyfat percentage. then you move along to a regular, more stable diet. i never said this is a perminent diet. if you combine it with regular exercise it becomes more effective, and since he's been in the gym, this will work.

Is it healthy?

I don't believe in diets that you can't alter to live with. This is one thing that while Weight Watchers is looked down upon, it really does teach you how to properly eat.

What's the use in losing weight with a fad diet if you aren't going to be able to live with it?

if you've got fat to burn and really want to do it, then you've got to deal with a diet you might not like for a while. sucks, but hey, you're the one that got yourself there (not saying you, just saying anyone).

my diet has completely sucked for the past month and a half. i've strayed a lot from what i should've been eating. i've pretty much decided that the next week and a half i'm going to enjoy what i want when i want it and that's that. today was the last day in the gym for a week and a half, then the fall semester starts, i'll be on a set schedule, and my eating will be more stable again. i will still allow myself to eat whatever i cooked for the family during dinner as well as a junk food snack at night (bowl of ice cream preferred ), but keeping the diet stricter during the day makes it taste even better at night.

i use the word diet very loosely. diet is just what you eat, doesn't matter if you're watching what you eat or not. the food you intake is your diet. so when someone says "oh, so you're on a diet?" in a state of confusion, i just want to smack them and say "well yeah, we're ALL on a diet unless you don't eat, in which case your diet consists of nothing."

i wouldn't call CKD a "fad" diet. it works if you stick to it. no gimmicks or BS or crap about it.
