All of you could just move out of Cali and not have to worry about it anymore. Hell, we don't even have vehicle inspection in AR anymore. How about that?

Thats cool that you take responsibility for your actions. Thats even cooler that you are far from leftist. It sucks to feel like you are being unfairly singled out because of the kind of car you drive. I have some friends that are cops out here on the east coast, and they don't just single out import drivers, they single out "perp cars". IE cars that are likely to be driven by people that are up to no good. This could run the gamut from a late model import with a loud exhaust to a clapped out '79 camaro, to any beat-up old car, to a van cruising around a residential neighborhood in the dead of night. Imports are hot right now, and those are the cars the cops see zipping in and out of traffic etc. Roll the clock back 10 years and it was 5.0 mustangs and IROCs. We had a bust out here recently in Brooklyn where the cops set up a group of illegal street racers ala The Fast & the Furious. Of the 11 cars they seized, 3 of them were stolen. I don't know about the logic of imports being stolen/having stolen parts either, but statistically that doesn't look too good. Cops do a lot of the things they do based on the collective experience of a lot of officers. Think about all the members of this board that have had their beloved rides jacked. Imports are hot, and hot cars get "hotted" frequently. Now you and your friends and me and my friends don't have hot cars or hot parts, but evidently a lot of people out there do.

The best way to avoid unwanted encounters with the po po is to avoid attracting attention. This is why I laugh at every tool that tells me I should put flowmasters on my 5.0. Yes I really would like to broadcast my location to every cop within five miles. I'll run right out and get blowmasters. (yep 5.0s still get stopped, especially if they have loud exhaust and a young driver)

Wow, waxing longwinded here. I'd just like to add that if you drive a car that attracts attention, realize that it may attract cops too. If you get stopped, a lot of "yes sir" and "I'm sorry sir" will do wonders. Being polite and respectful will generally get you off the hook if the cop is just stopping you to check you out. Obviously make sure all you papers are in order also. Yeah it sucks, but try to realize that the cops are, for the most part, just doing their jobs. Don't blame them, blame the other "fast and furious" street racers that give us import drivers a bad rep.

Well it's all depends on the "GASKET between stearing wheel and seat" (my dad used this phrase quite a bit).

I've 2.5" staight exhaust with no resonator and flowmaster on my 89teg and then 2.5" Borla on my bimmer, and I never got any "Exhaust tickets".
You don't just get pulled over for being too loud. It comes as a package to the rest of stupid stuff that you already did. My cousing got exhaust ticket on his 99 twin turbo Firebird, but that came to package of 7 other tickets which came total to $6500 ( Don't you dare being stupic enough to do couple donuts without realisings that police department is only block away.

It doesn't matter what kind of stuff you got your car packed with. It matters who you drive. I really get pissed of when some kind of spoiled 16 yearold driving "Rainbow" 99 teg with stuff barely hanging on the car runnig red light, cutting you off, switching without signals or cutting the traffic and getting into the 2 sec safe space that you keep right infront of you (boy he's lucky I don't have my AK47 anymore!)
Cops are people too ( I was a cop too) and here is an answer for you:
1. Treat people the way you want to be treated
2. Don't be an asshole and you'll see that cops can be nice too (they are here to protect)

There is no diference what you drive: import or domestic. If you shit of the road, you gotta pay for it.

I have performance shop next to my work and everyday I see import or domestic getting ticketed right and left. I sure hate when some moron burns his dady's camerro or lexus and then my workers have to breathe that smoke for the entire day

Just be careful on the road, don't pis anyone off. Road is for driving, not showing off. And if you really wanna race - go to the track; at least there they have some guys who can teach you how to do stuff in the proper way so you won't get wned:

When I got my exhaust ticket for my Greddy Sp on my accord the cop stopped me and stated that my exhaust was not stock and that he had to write me a ticket. He asked for my license and Reg and I also handed him my greddy sticker that states it complies with all CA exhaust laws and he told me that anyone can make these sitckers and still gave me the ticket. As I drove away pissed off I went home and read the law and it stated that the police officer must hear the car under normal driving conditions in order to determine if it is above the 95 db level. I was in rush hour traffic at 6pm coming out of San Francisco on I-80 moving at a raging speed of 3-5mph. So I got took the ticket to my local office showed the cop at the counter my greddy sticker (he didn't care) asked me to start up the car and I did reved it up he wrote the ticket off but I still had to pay the fine.

Now to touch on another point from this thread the reason that I got pulled over was for having stupid shit on my car I had clear taillights, blue headlights, blue turn signals and parking lights. So the cop gave me tickets for each one of the violations 86.00 apiece.

So point of the story you mod it you pay the fines that come with modding a car. Lesson to life by make a car stock on the outside and strong in the engine and you are less likely to get pulled over for stupid shit. my car is 100% stock on the outside minus the rims
