Thats cool that you take responsibility for your actions. Thats even cooler that you are far from leftist. It sucks to feel like you are being unfairly singled out because of the kind of car you drive. I have some friends that are cops out here on the east coast, and they don't just single out import drivers, they single out "perp cars". IE cars that are likely to be driven by people that are up to no good. This could run the gamut from a late model import with a loud exhaust to a clapped out '79 camaro, to any beat-up old car, to a van cruising around a residential neighborhood in the dead of night. Imports are hot right now, and those are the cars the cops see zipping in and out of traffic etc. Roll the clock back 10 years and it was 5.0 mustangs and IROCs. We had a bust out here recently in Brooklyn where the cops set up a group of illegal street racers ala The Fast & the Furious. Of the 11 cars they seized, 3 of them were stolen. I don't know about the logic of imports being stolen/having stolen parts either, but statistically that doesn't look too good. Cops do a lot of the things they do based on the collective experience of a lot of officers. Think about all the members of this board that have had their beloved rides jacked. Imports are hot, and hot cars get "hotted" frequently. Now you and your friends and me and my friends don't have hot cars or hot parts, but evidently a lot of people out there do.

The best way to avoid unwanted encounters with the po po is to avoid attracting attention. This is why I laugh at every tool that tells me I should put flowmasters on my 5.0. Yes I really would like to broadcast my location to every cop within five miles. I'll run right out and get blowmasters. (yep 5.0s still get stopped, especially if they have loud exhaust and a young driver)

Wow, waxing longwinded here. I'd just like to add that if you drive a car that attracts attention, realize that it may attract cops too. If you get stopped, a lot of "yes sir" and "I'm sorry sir" will do wonders. Being polite and respectful will generally get you off the hook if the cop is just stopping you to check you out. Obviously make sure all you papers are in order also. Yeah it sucks, but try to realize that the cops are, for the most part, just doing their jobs. Don't blame them, blame the other "fast and furious" street racers that give us import drivers a bad rep.
