i think imports are more prone because of the bad rep that a small percentage of tUn3Rz put out. but i see domestics getting ticketed also.

what gets to me are the harleys that never seem to get ticketed.

Will hit the nail on the head. The bottom line is imports cause more problems than domestics in the long run of things, so we're more likely to pull over the import. Although, they do pull over domestics quite a bit too.

You see, the thing is, with an import we're likely to find MULTIPLE violations and possibly some stolen equiptment, where as with a domestic it's usually just exhaust.

FYI: Almost all of the exhaust-tickets can be challenged in court and it's the prosecuters (the courts) duty to proove that your vehicle's exhaust is over a certain dB limit. Long story short, they wont do that and they'll be forced to throw it out.

It's not wrong for the Officer to ticket you for it, because he has reasonable suspicion to believe that it is in fact louder than it should be, but that doesnt' mean you're automatically actually GUILTY and owe the fine.

The real reason for an exhaust-pullover is merely to look for OTHER things of higher value. Perhaps stolen stuff, or a suspended license, or drugs, or whatever else we think you may have. It's what we call a precurser, or in laymans terms: A reason to pull you over and further investigate.

Make sense now?

Will: I know, I wish they pulled over more Harley's too. The problem is, most Cops are Harley Riders, so they tend to go on their merry way.

I got myself a sound test verification sheet from GReddy after some local moto-cop gave me shit about my exhaust... The actual conversation went like this (pretty much word for word):

Me: "Wait, you're threatening to give me a ticket for my exhaust?"
Him: "Yes. It's a modified exhaust"
Me: "But... it's a GReddy Evo... it fails to surpass the 95 dB limit, and has even been approved by the CHP..."
Him yelling: "Do you know the law? I know the law because I'm a police officer, and you better go put the baffles back into that exhaust!"
Me: "But sir, it's a canister style exhaust and..."
Him yelling to make people on the sidewalk stop and watch "ARE YOU LISTENING TO ME? YOU HAD BETTER GO AND PUT THE BAFFLES BACK INTO YOUR MUFFLER!"
Me: "Uhh... yes sir..."
Him: "Good... now that you're listening to me, I wont give you a ticket for your illegal exhaust. You better fix it before I see you again"
*I decided to bite my tongue for the rest of the proceedings*

I had GReddy fax me up the sound test sheet the next day... I don't stand for stuff like that.

i think i would've gotten his badge number. i know police have a job to do that is more trying than most, but that's no call to be rude.

He let them go.
He could have just as easily ticketed them and let them take it up in court.

nothing against you, but that is ****ing bullshit. isn't that like entrapment? cops do that shit all the time. pull you over for something stupid just so they can fuc'king hassle you. it's the reason cops get such a bad rep from people.

now i can see if maybe you're driving a old beatup piece of shit down hollywood blvd with half the muffler hanging off, but pulling over a honda civic because you think his exhaust is too loud, that's bullshit. specially when the real reason is just to fuc'k with him.

not cool.
