You do have a point there...
But at the same time, remember that my response was only an aside... simply intended for you to realize my displeasure with your views. I did not intend to bring this further into our conversation until responses required me to do so.

Lol...which part do you disagree with?
(I'm encouraging debate here, not trying to belittle you or anything)

Got a lot of gangbangers in Sacramento, do you?
Well I don't see any rednecks!
My point is everytime somebody wants to make a statement about gun irresponsiblity the statement involves a "redneck" or something like that. I watch the news nightly and have a scanner set to police channels and let me tell you, no rednecks are carjacking people at gunpoint, no rednecks are robbing the Mcdonalds and the KFC.
The real question should be how to lock the guns up to a point where the trash of the street can't steal them from honest law abiding citizens and then in turn use them in crimes.

I'm not sure that I COMPLETELY agree with this statement. While America certainly has a sick obsession with guns and violence, I am not sure to what extent this obsession "fuels many people's attitudes and opinions on the matter." I believe that MOST americans have a good idea of the differences between reality and fantasy... and they take these differences into account when formulating their views.

Yeah, I think you're right there. I should probably change "fuels attitudes..." to "significantly influences those who have trouble with said differentiation."
...Or something to that effect.

Knowing a few of England's naval community, I would have to say you're wrong.

In order to have a handgun in england, you have to be a member of an intelligence agency as a field operative, or in the military, and in both such cases, every weapon and round of ammunition has to be accounted for with miles of paperwork.

In order to have a rifle, you have to be a marching member of Her Majesty's Army.

In order to have a shotgun, you have to own a certain amount of land [can't remember how much], that can be hunted on, you're limited to 16 ga. maximum, no slugs or 00 buckshot, and your gun and ammo [only one box!] have to be locked up in safes, at opposing ends of the house.

I'm for free, unrestricted firearms ownership. I'd rather have someone wondering what exactly I have than to have a database to look it all up in.

Of course, I also believe in the death penalty, and that anyone convicted of assualt or murder with a firearm be put to death by firing squad [I love irony ].

These are my opinions, and I have no desire to waste time defending them against anyone who disagrees. [and yes I know how devastating a full auto sub-machine gun can be, but do you know how much ammo costs for those things? Burning through $25 worth of ammo in 15 seconds is not fun on the wallet, fun at the range, MAYBE once a month, but that's about it]
