I think I found the problem, your using an ASUS Intel based MB with an ATI video card. If your installing Nvidia drivers, it's never going to work.

Is the NIC showing up in the device manager? Maybe under other devices as Ethernet Adaptor or under Network adaptor with a failed driver install. Is it even showing up at all?

i'm using an asus intel mb with an ati video card it works perfectly fine.

the problem is that the drivers for the motherboard aren't working correctly.
try reformating then installing mother board drivers then video drivers and after that updating windows

ok. I uninstalled the driver, restarted, installed the driver, restarted, and now the ethernet adapter does show up in the device manager. it wasn't showing up there before, but it does now. the lights are on and flashing when i plug in the rj45 and turn on the modem.

however, i still cant get on the internet. any ideas?

edit: btw, i installed the driver that came w/ the mb. at this point, i don't really want to mess with third-party drivers.
