Default I just got pulled over for "speeding".

I was just coming home from hanging around with some friends, and I made a left turn onto a 35mph street and started cruising at my usual 40mph. All of a sudden, I see blue lights flashing, I immediately look at my speedometer and notice that it's at 41mph (which means about 39mph), so I'm like "wtf" and pull over. The cop runs up to my car and he starts talking to me like I just killed somebody. "Why are you doing 51 in a 35 zone!?!" I was like :eh: and told him that I was doing maybe 40mph. Then he tells me I'm lying and that his radar clocked me at 51, which is BS because my Valentine One didn't go off at all. And he says my friend was going the same speed (I asked my friend and he said he was doing about 38) but he couldn't pull both of us over. So I just decide to be nice even though he's obviously lying and I tell him I'm sorry and I didn't realize that I went that fast. Then he checks my license and registration and asks how many speeding tickets I've had (0), and then tells me he's on a call right now (so why the **** did he pull me over?!) so he doesn't have time to write me a ticket, but next time I see him, I should just be honest instead of bullshitting.
So yeah, I think maybe he was just trying to be a dick. :dunno:

In CA, you have the right to check his radar gun. If its clear, not ticket for you! remeber that... if its the same in your state.

Also, he did it as a excuse to pull you over and see if you where high, or had a drug smell in the car. I would bet my car on it.

Guess what. Despite what many people think, radar detectors really don't work very well. And guess what else. You don't even need radar to write a speeding ticket. In order to be certified at radar, you have to be able to estimate vehicle speeds with your eyes within 0-5 mph consistantly. Once you have that certification, you don't even need radar to write the ticket. You admitted that you were going over the speed limit, and you got off.....be happy about it and go on your way. The Cop let you off, yet he was still a dick??? You seem pretty ungrateful.

I know that cops don't need radar to write a ticket, but the point is, he pulled me over just to be annoying because he knew that I wasn't going 51mph, and then lied about it and saying his radar clocked me at 51. And he didn't "let me off", I don't think he intended to write me a ticket to begin with, plus, sure I was going 40 in a 35, but I've talked to CPD officers, and they've all said that they give 7mph leeway...so yeah, he was just being a dick. But of course another cop is gonna take the cops side.

You (not just you in specific, you as in the public) never know what is going on when a Cop stops you. Very often, V&T violations are used as a means to get into a car. Maybe your car matched a description of a car that they were looking for...you never know. He may have just stopped you to see if you matched a description, and when you didn't, he let you go. You don't know what was going on. But that speed over the limit was enough for him to stop you and further investigate whatever it was he was looking for. Chances are, there was more to the story than you know about. You can never assume you know the full reason why you are being stopped, because very often, there is more to it than you realize.
