I slid into a curb going 20 in the Focus and that puppy was perfectly fine.

I'm surprised it didn't explode.

That's crap! Wheels should be rated to withstand 100mph impacts. To sustain damage at only 20mph is an outrage! Puh-leeze, I can stop a 20mph car with my pinky...

Just kidding. Sucks for that guy. I hear Rota is pretty good about customer relations though. I guess we'll see what happens even though I think the driver was probably at fault. Good luck to him.

also, it will be hard for him to prove he was only going 20mph...i wouldnt put too much blame on the wheel quality.

I never had ANY problems with my Rota's and I took a curb at like 50mph.

Sure, it caused the rim to be scraped around every edge and I think it pushed it out of round, but it didn't shatter.

In my opinion, Rota's still making awesome Replica's of other wheels, but sometimes the manufacturing falls short.

You know, ADR is much worse; and no one bishes about those anymore. I also bet if I could find some guy who drive like as much of a retard as some of the Rota owners who hit curbs, with Volks - you'd find the same result. Broken wheels.

That's one ugly wheel anyway. He should just put steels on. Good lord.

yeah he probably hit at a faster speed, since he locked up the wheels in the rain.

Ok, first of all, the speed was probably faster than 20 mph. If somebody is telling you a story about racing, they will always add 20-30 mph, if they lose control of their car, they will always subtract 20-30 mph so it looks less like their fault.

Also, sounds like the person just sucks at driving, probably panicked and locked up. I've seen the exact situation at autocross, guy in a Miata started headin for a curb, locked up, and slid into it. If he would have let off the brakes the tires probably would have grabbed and he could have pulled out of it.

Anyways, IMO, driver completely at fault, and it was prolly a 30-40 mph crash, in which case the rim handled it fine.
