:werd: some of the best guitarists do instrumentals... maybe thats why they do solo projects to highlight their talent... something todays radio guitar "Gods" can't do. The key to being a good musician is to have a wide variety of musical background, trust me listening to todays commerical music is NOT going to help. Find obscure bands and try and understand where their talent comes from. Listen to music from other countries and learn from it. If I had to live on an empty island for the rest of my life I would take Passion and warfare as one of my cds.

Have you kistened to Weather Report at all? It was Jaco Pastorious' jazz/funk band (more jazzy) and light on vocals but heavy on talented musicians.

I'm getting my Strat out as we speak..... I keep thinking about selling my Crate and getting a Fender Hot Rod DeVille 410. But I'm buying a house by June, so 750.00 goes for the closing costs. Damn I need to win the lotto to satisfy my musical cravings. :happysad:

after too many years of just playing covers and the minor pentatonic scale i'm finally taking lessons. it's helping a lot, but they're expensive as hell
