y hath teh intraweb forsaken meh

maybe it woul work if I put the access point in the basement w/ the wired router and took the wireles router upstairs??? :dunno:
I'm looking at the user guide for the access point, and it says it has to be hooked up to a hub, switch or router...but it doesn't say to which port.
check and see if your router is set to Gateway mode or Router mode...put it in router mode if it isn't.

I just read that you do need a crossover cable to connect it directly to your PC.

ok, read the guide. to do what you want to do with it, you HAVE to have another WAP and put them both in Wireless Bridge mode. you can't use the router to do it, and it kinda makes it not wireless (works as a bridge, not a wap).

Q: Why does the Access Point not obtain the IP address via DHCP?
A: The WAP11 Access Point uses an IP address for SNMP configuration purposes only. This address must be static.

:dunno: if that might help.

but in the diagram you posted before, it has what he wants to do without them being in bridged mode.

maybe you can use it as a Wireless repeater. you have to log into the wap though. that would mean pc to wap (with a ca5 cable. not sure if it should be a xover or patch though).

has to be crossover. But it says if he uses it as a repeater, he needs another WAP.

that's 'cause the first router isn't wireless. the first WAP is just there to send the wireless signal.

it says the second wap is in access point client mode...check and see if there's some kind of setting to put it in client mode. :dunno:
