just sticking my head in here b/c i DO have to regulate... please dont take this personal anyone (it's coming off as 4th gen and 5th gen owners are up each others necks). This is friendly debate! Just keep the posts full of facts and limited opinion.

if not, this thread is worthless :awais:

Anyone who reads the mags would know that the 4G is quicker.

Early versions of engines are are almost always stronger. Just look at the original SR20DE, even though subsequent models were rated the same power.

the weight thing is the stupidest argument ever.

93-96 lude vtec is 2932 lbs

97+ base is 2954 lbs

oh boy 22lbs!!

the key is most likley were not talking stock v. stock since most who you will race are modded anyways. times can can differ based on mods and driver weight/ skill.

the fact is the cars are basically about the same speed wise for all intensive purposes. +-.2s in the 1/4 done by car magazines by different drivers and different track conditions is not exactly concrete evidence of a faster car.

Secondly...They are both 15 second cars!!! (stock) whats the big deal?

Finally...Jeezz...you make it seem that a 1/2 second here and there is a huge difference!! Its NOTHING!!!! shit...race with an almost empty tank and that half second is gone...

If you were really concerned with performance, 0-60 times, and 1/4 miles times, YOU WOULD NOT HAVE PURCHASED A PRELUDE!!!

I have a 2000 Prelude. I love it. I dont mean to talk shit about the Prelude. I love em..But speed is not the main reason you purchased your car. If that was the case...you would have purchased a torque filled V8.

Bottom Line.. The 4th gen and 5th gen are the same. Mods and the driver are going to make the difference. Stop talking about stupid shit. One person said that the 4gen "eats the 5th gen alive" and yet beats it by .5 second?

DO YOU REALIZE HOW ****IN STUPID YOU SOUND?

Thanks for taking this out of proportion and making it personal and not just a debate. .5 seconds is almost 5 carlengths in the quarter mile. That my friend, IS ALOT. Now, how stupid do you sound? Maybe I shouldn't have stated it that way but there's no need to say I'm stupid or sound stupid. And I still stand where I stand. I think the 4G VTEC is still quicker, and I never said weight was the main issue. I said gearing was the difference. And can the guy that said he found it in the Helms double check the ratios. I found this site (http://www.blackoutsi.com/tranny_specs.htm), but I'm not sure if it's correct. But, it makes sense. The 4G VTEC speedometer only goes to 140 or something and 5G goes to 150. But yeah, I still stand behind my argument. And I still want to keep this a friendly debate, so please refrain from calling names or whatever.

On the stats, stats are crap, no stats are ever the same unless they copied them, it really depends on the driving.

Some of you guys are getting a little anal on a non important topic.

As for the guy who was saying preludes are so slow and this and that, most preludes on the street will beat most civics and integras on the street. Full race cars are a different story. Plus being a nineteen year old in college and affording a Prelude that runs 14s is damn fine with me.

Thats all I have to say bout that., and also 5th gen baselines are faster than sh.
I wanna know why a 5th gen baselines are faster then SH....someone plz answer that...thanks

I don't think they are much faster, but it is because sh stands for super handling and it has that atts steering thing that weighs a little more.

You know a Type SH would be a tad slower than a NON-Type SH due to the extra weight from the 4 wheel steering. But I would have to say, stock for stock a 4th gen and a 5th gen are equal. It all depends on whose driving.

Type-SH is not 4ws...... it has a unique version of a posi diff. Active Torque Transfer System (ATTS). Anyway, I think I just might ask THATPRELUDEGUY to lock this thing. This has turned into an argument over tenths of a second (which would not be five car lengths) and people are just posting their thoughts, rather than fact. Stupid.
