that's where you're wrong. enginuity and innovation have always been the american strongpoints that put this country bar-none above the rest. sure japan can build existing things better once there is something to work from, china can mass produce anything as long as they have a blueprint, and india can set up a call center for tech support as long as they have canned scripts to work from. the fact of the matter is that all three countries combined, don't have a history of invention like we do. that is what keeps the USA as a superpower.

You are right. We have innovation NOW. However, many new policies have been extremely detrimental to this. For example, the 'No Child Left Behind' law effectively tries to equal kids out in schools, in particular high schools. I experiance this in my high school (I am a junior). While scheduling for next year, I ran out of classes to take. Our school cancelled all but two or three of our AP classes (Advanced Placement...college classes for college credit taught in high school). Why? Because the teachers are needed to teach all the kids that are consistantly failing their classes. This is seen around the country.

This trend of lowering support for the growing intellectuals in our country will eventually slow or even stop innovation. If you look at our economy, it is driven on innovation. That is how capitilism works. It is a rough fact that the vast majority of Americans contribute an extemely minimal amount to the economy. Contrary, it is the entrepreneurs, the Bill Gates, the Andrew Carnegies that drive this country. Removing support for the intellectuals of our country will only harm us. We should be pumping every little bit of support we have into them. In reality, most kids that are continually failing 9th grade language arts WILL end up working in McDonalds. Why waste the money?

If we do not change this soon, what will keep other countries from passing us up?

China already is. They own us...literally. We owe them billions! China is basically joe shmoe who just won the lottery and hasen't figured out what to do with his winnings.

President Jiang Zemin just visited the US last week. Instead of meeting with Bush, he met with the owners of Boeing and Microsoft...he skipped the president and went straight to the guy's who really run this country. This isn't even mentioning the massive deal he recieved from both of these companies. He basically walked away with a steal. He knows we owe them and he knows that they have broken from the industrial age to the revolutionary stage.

My fear, they are already a world super power, in 10 years, they will influence the world with their communist dictatorship and we will pay the price.

He means economically. And he's right. China has billions of dollars invested in the US. If they were to suddenly pull it all out, we would, and this is a gross understatement, be fucked. HOWEVER, it must be said that their economy depends on us just as much as ours depends on theirs. It would be extremely unwise for them to collapse our economy, because it would collapse theirs as well. In addition, ours would recover tremendously faster than theirs because of the nature of our economy.

In regards to China being communist: They are OFFICIALLY communist, and you will see this if you were to examine the rural areas of China. However, in the urban areas of the country free enterprise is actually flourishing. This is why their economy is growing so rapidly. If they were to abolish their collective farms, we would have a much bigger problem on our hands...

I don't agree with your shit...in fact, the shit your talkin about isn't really relative to the shit I'm talking about. The guy's that are handeling all of this shit are the ones that are in power of all that shit.

I hardly doubt Russia and Japan have any shit on China's shit...Russia is in the same shit as china (with exceptions of the communist shit), the split of economical hierarchy are the exact same shit (rich to poor), and Japan is closing in on this level as well - the poor in japan are rising and the rich in japan are rising (kinda sounds familiar)

how about that shit.

Shit!
