Then compare times.

More reliable then a civic. Try getting that out of any other high end car. Anyways, will a ZO6 beat an NSX.......Hands down. Which would i rather own? Hands down the NSX. In my opinion your buying the legend. Not just specs and 1/4 mile times.

Ben

P.S. Im not 100% sure what year they went from the assembly line to being hand built.
i'm not sure if this was covered yet 'cus damn i'm sick of reading but honda prelude was the first car to actually have v-tec. honda prelude was the honda experiment car (vtec, 4ws, etc)

NSX had it in '90. Prelude and Integra GS-R didn't get it until '92.

wow, this thread is pretty freakin long...

anyway, i guess you can tell i'm a big domestic fan. however, i'd probably rather have an nsx over a corvette. i agree with whoever said that there are a lot of corvettes - on my 2.5 hour ride home from the shore, i counted at least 8 c5's just on the highway. that might be the total of nsx's i've ever seen, total. hell, there's at least 3 corvettes on my street!

but come on, they're totally different cars. the nsx is mid engined, with a high powerband - made to handle at high speeds. i knew that nsx ownership was pretty exclusive, but i didn't know they only made 200 a year. vettes are mass produced - they sell 30k a year.

and any complaint you might have about the current c5, will be erased in 2005 with the c6.

all in all, they are both great cars. hopefully one day i'll own both of them, and then i'll be able to report to you guys. but i will definitely own a corvette. you aren't just buying a car, you're buying a history.

there's really no point in arguing. neither side is going to say "you know what, you're right, the other car is better". why can't we just appreciate the fact that honda and gm are producing awesome machines?

oh, and if you think that the ls1 is "low tech", you're just ignorant and when you say it you make yourself look stupid. i suggest you take a look at that article that was posted about how it was developed. gm had goals for the next corvette engine (ls1), and they were able to acheive it with one cam and pushrods. it's cheap, it's light, and it's reliable. you can't argue with results.

I can't believe the ignorance on here. I love how people compare the NSX to the Corvette by saying that Car and Driver Magazine tested the NSX one year at it ran a 12.9 in the quarter compared to a 13.3 in a C5 when they tested it in another year. The only way to see which car is quicker is to test them on the same track on the same day with the same driver. You could take that same NSX that ran a 12.9 in that magazine that day and run it in Denver Colorado the next day and it may run a 13.5. Weather conditions as well as track conditions play a huge role in what numbers you will see. I believe that a bone stock NSX and a bone stock C5 would be a very close race if both were 6 speeds with equal drivers. A Z06 would destroy an NSX in the quarter and around a race track. I would take an NSX over either Vette because I prefer the exterior styling, the interior design and the I feel the quality is far superior to the Vette. However, I also feel that the NSX is way overpriced and if Acura is going to sell it for that price it should soundly beat the Vette in every performance category which it doesn't. With all of this being said these two cars are completely different. The Corvette has always been a muscle car designed to have tons of low end torque and be a stoplight monster. The NSX is much more a precision machine designed to be a high revving motor with nice brakes and an extremely balanced chassis. The point is buy what you like. You will never convince a Corvette owner who is used to tons of torque to buy an NSX and you will never get an NSX buyer to even think about buying a Vette. Both drivers should just be happy that they are driving excellent cars that execute there purpose perfectly.

The Prelude Si didn't get VTEC until 93, and was the third Honda production car to get it. The first was the NSX followed by the 93 Civic Si, which debuted early 93 while the Prelude came out around November of 93. The Integra GS-R was released with a VTEC B18 in 94 with the redesign.

No, man, learn your Integra lore! Both the 92 and 93 Integra GS-R had the B17A engine .... with VTEC. According to your stats, that would make it the second car.

another thing i just thought of. honda didn't design the nsx to be the fastest, best handling car in the world. if you look at the "perfect" car - the ferrari enzo - it costs six to seven times what the nsx costs. the nsx is designed to be fast and handle extremely well - which i'm sure it does. it was not supposed to be the be all end all best car in the world. if somebody wanted that car, i'm sure they would build it for themselves.

the nsx is a very well built car, and can compete with cars that are much more expensive, period.

I may be wrong about the Integra on VTEC, but I know for a fact that the Civic and Prelude were the second and third Honda car to get VTEC, respectively. If you would like, later when I get home, I will dig up the Honda Tuning magazine and quote directly from it, with a month/year/issue number.
