I went through a Porsche stage years ago, and I'm glad to be in the Honda camp these days.
There we go. Someone who has driven both and can testify with personal experience. I know everyone is entitled to their opinions, but the most informative opinions are going to come from people who have driven or owned both.

I've driven a few for lengthy periods of time. I'd buy a used one, but plunking down $90,000 on a new one is a waste of money.

This thread is pathetic... You can tell by reading posts who actually knows sh*t about cars from who doesn't. I have spent two years working at a honda/acura independant service shop so i have had the honor of driving almost every single car honda has sold here. I have driven many different nsx's alone, from being stock 91-2004 to purpose built tracked cars... The NSX is a whole different car than any other. The owner of the shop owns 2 NSX's, of which i have driven around quite a bit and i can tell you that even the porsche/corvette drivers gawk at the NSX when you drive by. The NSX like other honda's, is not a car that you would buy if you wanted to brag about HP. The reason you would buy an NSX is because it is THE NSX. If i had about another 10k i could put into a car i myself would be driving around in a nice black 91 NSX a customer is selling for 21k

I agree, I've been working on Honda's and Acura's for 7 years and that car is not a run of the mill car. It's a piece of art. The whole car speaks volumes of the company and it's racing history. It's something I don't think a euro trash car lover could understand.
You know, it's lack of maintance scares them into thinking it's not high performance.

Default NSX v porche

can i just point out that the NSX-R has considerably more power than 280bhp as honda claim, reason for this is due to law in japan they have to state 280bhp which due to emmissions is the max BHP allowed on modern cars

The NSX actually more like 350-400BHP so its not under-powered!

A DOHC VTEC engine produce typically 100BHP per litre, so a 3.5 litre V6 is going to be at least 350bhp based on honda engines such as the B18C (actually more than 100bhp/litre) so definetly not under-powered

Plus if the car is faster than a porche the BHP will have to be similar to the porche or higher - its simple physics

Both cars are reliable and stunning, ive never had the luck to drive either but id be happy with either! but personally the NSX does it for me, it just has that racing look and amazing engineering (being an engineer i can really appreciate the NSX) and plus its not everyday you see an NSX where as i see porches every day

I drive a honda civic with a B18C4 engine similar to the integra type r engine and thats good enough, a 3.5 V6 Vtec would be un-believable! not to mention all the carbon fibre - one day - one day i will have one!

I totally agree with you !!!
I heard some of people talking about NSX on the street when they see my NSX. Sometimes, people will just judge cars without any knowledge that really makes me laugh In fact, they don't even drive a sport car; how do they know exactly the performence between NSX, Corvette, or Porsche ? I really feel sad for them when they are talking about which car is good and which ain't.
Before I got my NSX, I've $40k in hand. I've checked out the Corvette C5 & Z06. The performence is really impress me; however, personally I don't like the quality of Int. Most area are plastic made, and even the leather is not that well-quality. By the way, when the sales started the Z06 engine, I could feel directly from the car was kind of shaking. I believe it might because of Z06 is kind of a muslce car. It happens normally. Then I saw a use '92 20k miles NSX, I tested drive right away. You know what, I just love it. It's an old car; but the quality is really impresived. Now, we're talking about $40 range. I just put the down payment right after I drove NSX.

Honda's quality is defnly good. In year 2002, Canadian reported the best reliable car is Acura. Is there any question ?

my next car is a used NSX. Since I started college, my dream was to graduate and buy an NSX. Although, from readings on NSXprime.com, if I want a great one, i really have to nitpick through one.

But yes, the NSX and Porsche are 2 completely different cars that should really not be compared. BTW, I see more Porsches driving around than I see NSX's.

Ever since i sat in one i have wanted that car since 95, if they ran 15's in the quarter i would still want one, speed isn't everything to some people, i prefer looks and luxury. Madd props to FASTNSX
