Hmm, from the exhaust manifold and the comment on Ford-supplied motors I'm guessing that there's some variation of the Zetec under the hood. Meh. At least the copper things on top of the strut towers look kind of like rotors.
The Mazda Cosmo's closest competition was the Toyota Soarer (a.k.a. Lexus SC300 but with a 2JZ-GTE). It was a luxo-boat with a lot of motor.
Anyway, I hope that rather than the 150 hp 2.0-liter Ford motor that is mentioned in the Euro-market article that we get the 160 hp 2.3-liter Mazda engine from the 6i.

Gimme a Cosmos, either a 110S or a last gen 3Rotor ahead of nearly any sports car :naughty:
Maybe they could do a 2.3 TURBO

I think the back of the hatch looks like a Nissan Murano, definately got good curves. My only hope is that 3-door hatch is available sometime for North America (very unlikely I know).

I heard we are supposed to have 2 engine choices, the 2.0L and the 2.3L. If the 2.0L already puts out 150hp, then I would assume the 2.3L would put out at least 170hp to have a gap in performance. This engine makes 170hp in Japan, but has less hp here due to emissions standards.
Oddly enough, the mazdaUSA website says the "targeted" hp is 160hp, whatever that means.
