My sister is considering it too. We love the 5 door, and it can be equipped with HIDs and navi.

i have a protege5 the predecessor to the 3...after 15k miles these cars don't have the quality to be on par with a civic of similar mileage and age...and it shows in the resale value and amount of warranty work that is needed...my tranny at 8k miles before turbo was already popping out of gear and the clutch and flywheel were chattering (mazda has refused to recall the cars for this issue...a big gripe at the protege boards)...i'm looking to buy a used transmission and get it strengthened as they could not handle the stock engine

I think the new 3 should have better quality than the Protege. Lately, Mazda's quality has been going up, and I think it shows by the ratings of the Mazda6. I would expect the 3 to be significantly improved. I know when I saw it at the autoshow I could tell that it had a better build and finish than previous models.
