Default 2004 Odyssey

From a private source...

The news is and I quote, " news" is that the Odyssey will be undergoing major changes in 2004. Such changes may include more power, new exteriors and also more entertaining interiors. The vehicle's new powerplant may be the 3.8l V6 we've all been waiting for. It has never been Honda's custom to keep a vehicle design for more than 5 years. As a matter of fact that last time they did that was on the flagship Accord and look what that turned out to be, absolutely beautiful. Expect to see some type of concept drawings or photos by Sept/2004. Watch this website closely or check out www.hondanews.com I will keep all of you informed. For now I bid you farewell and a reminder this is only "NEWS".

Kiss our ass, TOV :fawk:

I have trouble believing a 3.8 will he used. If it's based off the J series, why bother? It has plenty power, doesn't need more towing capacity, and why harm gas mileage/emissions? If it's an i-VTEC engine, I suppose I can see why, but it seems like overkill.

Also, why not put the bigger engine into the Pilot/MDX first? They need more torque for towing.

It doesn't need it for towing. It can only tow so much being car based, regardless of horsepower and torque figures. The Odyssey would get the bump in power first because it's the newest design.

Maybe the mid-cycle updated Pilot will have a horsepower increase, as will the MDX. But the MDX is already at 260 freakin' horsepower.

:wtf: Which generation Accord was this that was over 5 years??? All the Accord prior to the 6th gen has been 4 years. All Accords and Civics after 1998 shifted to a 5 year model cycle.

We think he made an accidental error and just meant to say 5-years or more than 4-years. Details.

Also add in the Pilot/MDX is assembled at the Canadian plant, while the Odyssey is assembled at the newly built Alabama plant. The Odyssey is the start of the platform to the MDX and Pilot. Kinda like how the Civic is to the Integra/RSX/CRV/Element, and the Accord to the TL/CL.

Is this for the 04 model or calendar year?

Keep a design for more than 5 years??? I guess that would not include the Integra, NSX or RL.

Wow, 3.8L, wouldn't that make it the largest engine in a minivan? That wouldn't be very fuel efficient, is it? I thought Honda has always been about having similar performance as the rest of the class and yet have a smaller engine to have better gas mileage?
