But I doubt Honda will make this optional. Secondly, 3.8L is still the largest, right? It's just that both Honda and Chrysler will have the largest engine, which is think is very unlike Honda. They were never known for having the largest engine in any class.

The new Mercury Monterey will have a 4.2l V6 standard. It will pump out 201hp. That engine will be optional in the Ford Freestar. It makes like 265lb/ft of torque though (I'm not definate here, it's 265 or 245). I don't really consider any of this news. I mean we all knew a new Odyssey was coming, which obviously means new interior and exterior and most likely more power (260hp from MDX?). I mean, Nissan chose to only put 230hp in the Quest, and they seem set on having the highest HP, so no boost in power wouldn't be a big suprise to me. Chrysler may be the only company which will pass the Odyssey's 240hp, by offering the 250hp 3.5l V6. They're trying to crack down on overlap, so I wouldn't be suprised if the next minivans used the 2.4l Global I4, 2.7l V6 (replacing the 3.3), and the 3.5l V6 (replacing the 3.8).

I think GM used to offer the 3800 in the old LuminaAPV/TransPort/Sillouette, but that's pretty irrelevant. If Honda wants to put a 3.8 in the Odyssey, I'm sure they can without fuel economy concerns. Mate that with a five speed transmission and your fuel economy on the freeway is almost at four cylinder levels, anyway. If Honda does introduce a new engine block, that should lead the way for good things to come with the CL/TL, RL, and NSX.

it's hard to make a V6 of large displacement rev that high.

I'm expecting a 3.5 DOHC i-VTEC V6 with IMA putting out 350+ horsepower for the next NSX. But this is way off topic

Yes, the JDM Odyssey. Our Odyssey is called the LaGreat over there. Much like the 1st generation USDM Odyssey. But, uh, what about it?

If this is true, that means the Lattitue/Stream is definitely a go. Personally I want to see the Jazz first.

I doubt a 3.0+L V6 can have gas mileage like an I4 on the freeway. I mean, unless the I4 is large, like 2.5L. But my GS-R gets about 30MPG. What's the chances of a 3.8L V6 getting that. Even the 3.0L V6 Accord w/ 6 speed manual doesn't get that high in gas mileage.

Also, Nissan only said 230+ so you'll never know exactly how much that'll be. But we all know they're claiming all their cars will have HP lead, so I would expect it to be above the 240HP from the Odyssey. But who really needs all that power in a minivan anyways? I rather get a DVD player and screens for the passengers/kids rather than a high performance minivan. I'm sure most mother who buy minivan would also see it the same way.
