I personally would like to see the next generation Accord with some Acura RL power.

Hey guys, Honda has nothing to worry about Toyota. Toyota has been getting too many recalls and their quality has gone down. This makes Honda more attractive and Toyota will eventually get bankrupt because nobody will buy it.

The 3.5 V6 only has 268 horsepower, that is not a lot. There are many better cars with more horsepower. (7-series/S550)

Lol, I don't know if you're messing around or being serious, but yeah, Toyota has been getting quite a few minor recalls, but they are still #1 in quality.

Honda on the other hand still cant get their transmissions straigh. The old TL and V6 Accords are a complete fiasco and Honda still won't recall them.

won't recall?! :hahano:

they also extended the warranties of these transmissions to seven years, 100,000 miles, and haven't had any trouble with transmissions since.

what a bunch of BS...honda has been the mfgr that stands by their product more than any other car maker

selective memory serves: toyota never recalled the mass quantity of engines for the engine crud but rather blamed it on its owners not keeping strictly to the oil change schedule. it was toyota's own neglect and lack of insight when they took their bread and butter 4 cyl and v6 engines and adjusted them to run hotter to meet ULEV emissions as honda was doing. Toyota did not increase the cooling capability or redesign the head to compensate for the higher running temperature making it very bad for those who did not get oil changes often and every 3500miles...this was a recall that never happened where honda stood by its failed transmissions and replaced them and gave an extended warranty where Toyota did not...they just covered it up quietly when owners started fighting the 800 Toyota gorilla

Maybe you should see posts when people go throught 4-5 replacement transmissions. Honda has proven to not being able to repair the problem, but they wont admit to it, and wont replace all transmissions with redesignet units. And that warranty extension is crap, its only 100k, rendering these cars pretty much worthless after the warranty runs out.

i'll admit that honda hasn't handled the transmission problem very well. but it also isn't as widespread as you make it seem. only a tiny number of people have a transmission as problematic as you describe. the transmission in my friend's honda odyssey had the same transmission problem, so they got it fixed under the extended warranty about two years ago. there hasn't been a single problem since. so much for "not being able to repair" it.

a 100,000 mile warranty is pretty generous, especially when the oldest car effected is model-year 2000.

and like i said before, none of their automatic transmissions have had any problems since then.

sure...but to stay fair...let's also look at the Toyota forums...celica gt and mr2 spyders have an engineering defect where they lose compression as the piston rings wear out prematurely (typically by 40k miles)...Toyota has not once recalled this problem even though it's an admitted engineering defective design

3 million Camry's and other Toyota's have the engine sludge defect and Toyota has not given a recall or extended the warranty...in fact the proper recall would be a redesigned head to compensate for the higher engine running temperatures

you say Honda dropped the ball on the transmissions by allowing past due warranty work, working a slight recall then extending the warranty - then Toyota has as serious a problem and does little to nothing...now that's the pot calling the kettle black!
