The Corolla should be the same as it is now, maybe sans a few changes, until 2008 when it should gets it's major redo.

The next-generation Corolla won't arrive until 2007 as a 2008 model. I expect for the USA market we'll see both a four-door sedan and a five-door hatchback (the latter replacing the Toyota Matrix). Expect more powerful, smoother-running and more fuel-efficient engines for the 2008 Corolla, plus possibly much improved transmissions, too.

But I agree, there has to be something to replace the Matrix.

with everyone joining the HP war, and stepping up the HP on their V6 and V8 engines, I wonder who is going to be the first one to join in with their inline 4's. I'd love to see a 210hp base corollas and civics and 230hp base camrys and accords.

I could certainly see a 220 hp Corolla XRS (doesn't the current one have 170?). But in the interrest of fuel economy and emissions, I think the bulk of Corollas will remain relatively low powered.

Its amazing how the V6 version of Accord and Camry have 240/268hp respectively, but the 4 cylinder versions of these cars have stayed at 160hp for over a decade.

The V6 models are primed for performance, and the 4-cylinder models are designed for economy.
