Toyota not a performance company?
I don't think the Nissan's interior is cheaped. I've seen and test drove the SE-R and it doesn't look cheap to me. SpecV is about $18k and you can HLSD, 6spd, power everything and also keyless entry. SpecV is much better handling, performance car. I call that value. How many $18-$20k car have 6spd and HLSD? I've owned a 95 200SX SE before my GS-R and from day one to the day my dad totalled it at about 100k miles, all i had to do is change the alternator and the oil. I call that reliability, considering I got it at $12,500 and it got all the options too except sunroof. Also, the fit and finish still look very good after 7 years and never once has it been parked in a garage. I'm just giving you a counter example to your statement, "a $17,000 Civic is MUCH more refined and far better performing than pretty much anything else in the price range", that's all.

I dunno if id pay $17k for a Civic. I like the civic EX only just because other models are pretty stripped down. I think if i were to want to buy a civic, i would buy a Corolla S, just because i think it looks good and the interior looks good too. But i would have to expect people to hate on it just because its says "toyota" on it, which i think is wrong. but o well. The corolla is bigger, and it is a toyota. My family has always owned toyotas, never had any problems with any of them nor do i have anything against them. Im sure someone could say the same thing about Honda. This is out 1st honda, so i really dont know the company that well. I see way too many civics, at least here in so. cal.

When I went with my friend for his Altima 3.5 testdrive, I briefly checked the specV out. Nissan makes good cars, but I just thought the car seemed as cheap as it price is, considering it does have a six speed and LSD. The Civic's pieces and parts feel like they belong on a $25,000 car, whereas Nissan's parts reflect the price (although the Altima's are horrid compared to an Accord)

I have never owned a Nissan, nor will i ever. I have many family members who have had Nissans and all have had bad experiences with them. From rust on a 3 yr old Maxima(well know problem on early 90's) to major engine problems on a 2yr old Altima. I will not mess with them, no matter how fast or great they look.

Holy ****, you guys are ****en loopy. Why the hell would you compare a Civic EX to the Spec V? If we are comparing full out sports models of these cars let's try Civic Type R versus Spec V.
You can shut up now.

94UhkordGuy, I'm sorry you feel that way. I guess bad memories will last much longer than good ones. My experiences w/ Nissan has been nothing but perfect. My dad bought a Nissan/Datsun B210 for $600 and it last him years w/out any problem. My 200SX is also a ran w/out a hitch.
fastball, I understand your argument about the Altima interior but you also gotta know that Nissan just came out of a near bankruptcy so they can only do so much. The Altima is the first new car since they got back on their feet and w/out the major cost cutting of the interior, Nissan might not be around. My 95 200sx has interior that I think is just as good as any civic out their and for the price, it's much more equiped. Give Nissan some time to work out all the kinks and when they have enough $$ again, the quality will also go up. Look at the Maxima interior? It was designed before all the cost cutting, that's why it's much better. And remember, the Maxima is still competing w/ the V6 Accord as of right now. If you want to compare right now, compare it to the Maxima, because the Altima still has some way to go before it get to the interior quality of the Maxima, Accord, or Camry.

What's wrong with comparing the EX with the SpecV? According the Base MSRP, EX Sedan is $17,010 and the SpecV is $17,199. The Civic Si (Type R in Canada) base price is $19,000. This is american currency. Lets make you happy and compare the SpecV w/ the Si which is $2k more, the SpecV has 175HP and 180lb of tq, while the Si has 160HP and 132lb of tq. SpecV has 6spd manual while the Si has 5spd. SpecV has HLSD, Si doesn't have LSD. Honda claim the new Si is just as fast as the old ones, which are mid 15sec car, while the SpecV is low 15 sec car. Not mension the HLSD and tq, which gives it a much better advantage around the track. Name one thing on the Si (Type R) that's better than the SpecV? Even the price isn't better.
NOW, you can shut up.
NOW, you can shut up.
Please get the simple facts straight before you bash anyone.
The USDM Civic Si is the Canadian Civic SiR. The CTR is a totally different car that is only in production in Europe, and although you are not even aware of such a car, you can believe me when I tell you that it is a step above the Spec V.

Ok, my mistake, i thought you're talking about the SiR, but if you're talking about the CTR which isn't even here, then how about comparing it to the JDM version of the sentra which has the SR20DET engine pulling 200+ HP. What's the use of u wanting me to compare something that's not even available in the US. for that matter, how about comparing the CTR to the Sylvia which is only a low $20k car in japan, these comparison are useless because these cars are not available in the US. And please, don't assume something about me because you know nothing about me. Also, I know the CTR is above the SpecV, i didn't doubt that.
people, this has gotten really old. everyone is gettin on everyone's case for the dumbest ****. I dunno, this is a gone to the **** thread. wait, its always been ****.
