i dont think honda can afford the mistake of not using it... the part about how this aiming to scare the exotics like in 91 hints at, imo, IMA...

 

i just wish we could be more sure about that. i mean with the DualNote was a big part of that car. This seems like a updated concept of the DualNote in my opinion.

 

Honestly, I donno how well an IMA will fly with the exotic car crowd...I mean hybrids arent excepted yet with the mainstream...now try selling an electric car to someone who wants to buy a Lambo or Ferrari or Porsche.

Tom Elliot did say Acura was experimenting with turbochargers and supercahrgers in the last week edition of automotive news...

 

it's not the technology that people aren't accepting, it's the price. People don't want to pay extra for a vehicle that would take something like 7 years in fuel savings to make up for the added dough they ponied up in the beginning to save the planet. Exotic car shoppers aren't going to care whether it uses a hybrid system or not, but I'm guessing that if hey have the hybird, it's just one more thing they can tell people to show off. It's not going to make them reconsider wanting to purchase this car. And this is not an electric car.

 

Well, don't forget, hybrid technology can offer some amazing performance benefits, not just fuel efficiency. I guess the trick is to get more out of it in terms of performance than what you lose through added weight and cost. I think Honda would add IMA to its flagship sports car and amortize the cost of the IMA system over the model life cycle, which with the NSX, has been over 13 years. Granted the first few years you might lose money, but the NSX is a low volume car anyways. Its a small price to pay to have an outstanding car. A new NSX with a reworked V6 wouldn't really cut it in this day and age.

 

Nothing would make more sense than to offer the next NSX with IMA. Just like the NSX gave VTEC a name, this can do the same for IMA. Therefore whenever it trickles down into the RL, TL, TSX, Accord wahtever itll have a name.

Just put the powertrain of the Dualnote into the HSC, and hopefully you have the new NSX.

The NSX tookt he world by storm because it was the everyday supercar. It could take down most every competitor, and was much higher quality, much more reliable and easier to drive. A 2nd gen NSX with IMA and AWD would be just that.

Finally, after all these years......the front looks super handsome, the interior seems very sporty and high-tech, but the rear is too boxy, but it is still a concept car, so the real thing wouldn't be so exaggerated and so futuristic. I can't wait to see the real car. When does it come out? The new NSX, the new GTR, and the new Toyota or Lexus sports car, I have been waiting for tooooooo long.

 

GTR is setting for 2005~2006 production. I think Honda will need sometime to make adjustments. However, rumors or Nissan has stated that GTR is producing at least 400+HP and will be aimed at 911 Turbo territory. If Honda is staying with its 3.2L+V6 for the next 2nd generation NSX, unless it can offer brilliant all around performance together with ultra luxury, it will lose its appeal for customers in this supercar market. I believe if we don't see IMA in this generation, Honda will have surprises for us with this NSX. Maybe, what I can project from this point is 2nd generation NSX with updated/newly engine with great amount of luxury design and performance, perhaps an year or two, we will see IMA as an option.
