LS/TURBO and GSR Tranny?

If you can, get a type r tranny. Not so much for the gearing, but because it has a limited slip already on it. Whats the point in building up a badass turbo when you cant put it down to the ground. If you get a GSR tranny put an lsd in it. Match it with a lightened flywheel and clutchmaster clutch and you're set for putting it down.

Sure, if you wanna get into 5th gear before you finish the 1/4 mile.

the gsr tops out at 140 if it had a little mor power or less drag it would bounce off the redline at about 145 mph the ls redlines a little lower but even with a stock redline 5th gear will be at like 135mph and hes not gonna br running that fast in a quarter and if he is then he will be over revving the engine with built heads so type r or gsr would be the fastest and it is dailly drivable

-Good point about the LSD: completely forgot to mention that even after stating 'traction problems'. the easiest way is to like stated prior, purchase an aftermarket LSD for a GSR tranny. It would be stupid to sacrifice longer gearing simply for an LSD which can be easily attained otherwise.
My suggestion: the ultimate setup for what you are looking to get out of the car is a GSR tranny with an aftermarket LSD.
This is supposed to be a daily driver. With an ITR tranny you are going to be constantly in high revs, hence the turbo will almost always be spooling faster than necessary, hence shortening the longetivity of your FI setup.

Punctuation is your friend.
At 7000 rpm, which is 200 rpm beyond redline on a stock LS, you will be at 97.5 mph with a USDM ITR tranny in 4th gear. Since he'll be boosted, he'll be going faster than that when he crosses the line at the end of the 1/4 mile, so he'll need to be in 5th gear.
Have a clue about what you're saying before you try and kick knowledge.

What I am saying is that this argument has nothing to do with the tranny. In fact the tranny makes top speed slower. The ls tranny with the gsr redline would have the highest top speed assuming enough power to move it that fast.

^ that is correct. But top speed isn't what you usually look for in running the 1/4 tracks...getting there the quickest would entail (sp) shorter gearing....
Forget it you all have me conuzed me about what the topic and issue at hand IS anymore...
I've stated what i believe to be true about the ideal trannys for 1/4 mile track runs...
-peace.
