Default LS Jet Chip

So I'm considering sending the ECU from my 95 LS to JetChips and see what they can do to it for me. Right now, performance wise, the only real things I've done to the engine are an AEM V2 intake and advanced the ignition timing from 14 to 18 degrees BTDC. I'm planning on buying a Greddy exhaust and either a DC or Comptech header before sending the ECU to them though. Has anyone had them "chip" their ECU in the past? Any major pros or cons on a mildly modded Teg? My brother, who's into diesel VW's, has "chipped" OBD2 TDI Jetta's and Golf's with very good performance gains as well as improved fuel economy. Pretty much he swears by it and has been wanting me to chip my Teg for some time now. Granted, all of his rides have stock VW turbos on them, but with aftermarket injector nozzles and a mild tune, his cars have seen some decent "seat of your pants" improvement. He hasn't even changed the I,E,H on these cars either. Any good advice on this for the Integra would be appreciated. Thanks!

to be honest, you're not going to see much, if any improvement given the stock output of the b18b1. how much does a "jet" chip cost anyway? you're better off going with a standalone system from hondata, or something of the homegrown nature like ectune/neptune/crome/uberdata.

u're right about the vw's and their decent output after "chipping" - its because they alter the boost curves/boost psi from the turbo. you're not going to see the same improvements since your car is naturally aspirated.

Plus there's a lot more that can be done with a stock diesel, they come with a conservative tune for EPA. I would agree, go with the standalone options. The Hondata system doesn't cost much, and there's many options that go with it.

So I looked at Hondata and ectune this morning and they both looked like decent products. Are they gonna be plug and play or is there going to be a need for dynoing the car or further tuning with a laptop? At this point, from what I've read, it sounds like there isn't really a need to mess with the OE ECU unless I'm wanting to make some serious mods to the car. I may just start with the exhaust and headers and go from there performance wise. Besides the basic bolt-ons (I,H,E) whats the next best bang for the buck for notable performance gains for the B18B besides nitrous?

to get the most out of any ecu mod you'll need tuning

correct

at the stage you're at with the car, a set of sticky tires and a good alignment will provide u the best bang for buck pleasure. however, i think i've mentioned this to you before, if thats the case, look into sourcing a GSR or B16 transmission. for the 500-700 dollars they go for used in good condition (Beware of shady sellers selling stolen parts) the return in better acceleration is awesome. the downside is that mileage suffers and freeway RPM's go up at crusing speed.

If you don't have that much to spend, I'm going to agree with Spec R and say you should get a GSR/Si transmission or even a FD (4.9?).

If you do have some money to spend, go with Snoopy and turbo your car.
**
Any of you older guys remember the Venom chips?** Said something like 20-30% HP increase, when all it did was set the throttle response to ultra-sensitive so that it "felt" like you got more power.
